This variation on the "Classic Original" has proven to be very popular. While it shares the same shave head as the Merkur Classic, the handle is reminiscent of the 1904 model "Gillette" which was the grandaddy of all D/E razors.
One of the reasons often stated for it's popularity is the 6-sided Faceted Handle, which for some users provides a firmer more sure grip - Another reason is the handsome diamond patterned "Antique" styling and design.

The Open Comb version of the "Classic 1904" safety razor is recommended for more experienced wet-shavers and is especially suited for tough, heavy beards.
