See below for individual descriptions of the Strop, Pastes and Hone:
This strop with sharpening paste is all the tool you need to periodically re-sharpen your daily shavers!
Made of Natural Hardwood, our Double-Sided Sharpening strop has a Hollowed Body to provide just the right amount of "Spring" to the surface and a smooth, comfortable handle for ease of use. Finished in Red Mahogany.
The two leather surfaces provided are intended specifically for sharpening and maintaining your razor's edge. The special roughened leather surfaces are perfect for holding the abrasive material in sharpening pastes that actually does the work of sharpening. The two leather surfaces are colored differently so that you can differentiate different grades of sharpening paste.
NORTON WATERSTONE with SHARPENING STATION
4000/8000 Grit, 3"
Ideal sharpening system for precision woodworking tools, fine cutlery, and straight razors.
Thiers-Issard Double-Sided Sharpening Strop
Created by a Norton engineer who is also a dedicated woodworker and bladesmith, Norton Waterstones combine craftsmanship with the latest abrasive technology to produce a truly superior sharpening system.
Norton Waterstones use water for a lubricant and flushing agent. They're easier to clean than oilstones and they won't leave an oil residue on your tools. These fast cutting stones give you feedback as you work, so it's easier to feel and maintain the correct angle as you sharpen.
This 3" Extra Wide stone is the best choice for larger or wider items such as block plane blades and chisels. The 4000/8000 Combination Grit stone will both maintain and refine a basic working edge, and apply the polished razor-sharp finished edge.
Razor strop paste, used in conjunction with a Strop, is an effective method of sharpening a "less than razor-sharp" straight razor. There are multiple pastes of varying grit sizes which perform differently, each intended for a specific purpose. The Red paste will restore the edge of a less than sharp blade. The Black paste will finish and polish the sharpened edge.
Sharpening pastes should only be used on a leather strop reserved for that purpose and various grit pastes each require their own strop to avoid cross contamination.
This particular paste comes in a soft block form and should not be stored where temperatures might exceed 80 degrees (F) to avoid melting into a liquid.
