Imported from Solingen, Germany - World's Fine Cutlery Capitol
This handsome Seven-Day Set is comprised of seven identical razors, each one etched with a different day-of-the-week on its spine. Sets like this were very popular among the Aristocracy prior to the turn of the 20th Century. Not only was possession of such a treasure a sign of wealth and status, but it served the practical purpose of reducing the use of any single blade thereby extending the period between honing to only once every 2-3 years. As useful a technique today as it was over 100 years ago!
This set, made with Pearlex (imitation mother of pearl) Handles and full gilding of the blade is one of the most elegant looking razors made and proudly bears the Maker's Hallmark on the front scale.
The razor's blades begin with High Carbon Forged Steel blanks that have been Tempered for Hardness and Superior Edge Holding ability. The blades then take shape in the hands of a Master Craftsman who shapes and grinds the blanks into semi-finished 5/8 Full Hollow Ground blades. The blade's finishing includes: Custom File Work to create the Jimps on the Upper and Lower edge of the shank; Decorative and Brand Stamps on the front and rear of the shank; Polishing to a mirror finish front and rear; Heavy Gold Plating of the entire shank; Two-Color 24k Gold Decorative Etching on Blade and blade back, and only then final sharpening and polishing.
The set comes luxuriously encased in its own Custom Made Wooden Case and gift boxed.
Every bit of the many generations of experience that went into this razor's making is immediately evident when you hold it in your hand. And rest assurred - It will provide the finest shave possible for many generations to come!
