This handmade strop is custom crafted by a legend in mile-high Idyllwild, California. The locals call him Mountain Mike. He designed the strop for use by both novice and veteran straight razor shavers.
Strop measures 2" x 17" and is actually two seperate strops joined together at the top with a nickel plated swivel clasp at top and heavy duty D rings at the ends. One is made of Prime Quality Red or Black Latigo Leather and the second of a nylon webbing. Please make color selection from pull down menu. This "Blackstar" model's natural pakkawood handle is permanently sealed against moisture. Due to the organic material used, no two handles are identical. Well balanced to the blade, the handle offers exceptional hand control and a comfortable shave.
The blade begins as a forged high-carbon steel blank that is then tempered for hardness. Next a master craftsman shapes and grinds it into a 5/8 inch wide, full-hollow ground blade. In the finishing process, file jimps are added to the upper and lower sides of the shank. Shank is then brand-stamped on the front and the back. Razor is then given a high-gloss black powder coating on entire spine, shank and tang, a two color 24k gold decorative etching is applied to blade and the razor is finally sharpened to perfection and polished.
The many generations of experience that went into the making of this razor are evident when you first hold it in your hand. It will provide the finest shave possible for many generations to come.
