"Best DE Razor I have had!!"

This is my 2nd DE wet shave razor. My 1st one lasted about 6 months before it broke. My 1st did have a pitted grove type handle to help avoid it from slipping out of my hand, which leads me to my only complaint about this razor, it is slippery and I have dropped it several times. However, even though I have dropped it it has proven to be VERY durable and function just as well as it did when I first got it. I have been using it for over 2 years now. To prevent it from slipping out of my hand I had improvised by rapping a rubber binder around the handle where I primarily hold the razor for traction and since then I have not dropped it. For the price I find this razor to be a great starter DE razor for those who are new to shaving or those who have decided to cross over to a more elegant shave.
For those who are buying their supplies (DE razor, Blades which I recommend the Feather, Badger brush & shaving cream) it is a bit pricey up front. However, it does pay for itself and then some in the first year!! For example, I bought my Feather blades in bulk and they turned out to be roughly 7 cents per blade! Or, you can pay about $3.50 per blade for the latest Gillette razor blades.
The jar of shaving cream is $30 including shipping and if you are liberal with the amount you use you can make one 6.7oz jar last about a year as my have 2 times now!!! or you can buy your can of shaving cream which tends to last a month or two if your lucky.

My point is (if you have not caught on by now is that you can save a lot of money going this route and save space in the land fills) this is the way to go and I guarantee you will not regret it!

I have skipped on buying a stand as I find them to be quite expensive.

Cheers and enjoy your new shaving method!

"It's really slippery..."

It's a decent DE razor, nice weight and it has held up decently over the 3 years I've owned it. The adjustable part no longer has a stop when you turn it - you could raise the head an inch off the blade if you wanted to, probably caused by all the dropping spoken about below. My absolute biggest gripe is how slippery it is. I prefer to shave in or right after a shower, and I've dropped it many times, including one where I gave my foot a serious cut. I sort of solved this problem by getting a bunch of silicone washers from a hardware store and stacking them in the "narrow" section of the handle. It's still slippery though, and I consider this a major design flaw. It is hard to get a close shave when the razor is slippery. And this razor is slippery even without having damp hands. It looks nice, yes, but a well made product should also be functional. I'd suggest a razor with some kind of textured handle over this one any day.

"Easily the best shave I've ever had"

I've been using this razor since 2006, and I've not looked back since. Not only does it provide the closest shave I've ever had, it's adjustable nature means that it will provide a comfortable shave, no matter your skin's sensitivity (I have sensitive skin). It's also a great value, considering that I've saved hundreds of dollars in blades over the past nine years by switching from my old cartridge razor.

"Best Razor, PERIOD!"

it has weight and heft, which makes for a perfect shave. I use Featherlite blades, they provide closest and most comfortable shave, time after time. Merkur blades don't shave as close and will nick toward the end of their 'Life Span', about three shaves per side.

Overall you cannot better value and quality dbl edged razor on the market, anywhere. I had been using my straight razor for about 6 years and tired of the upkeep. This razor gives me the same shave without the Fanfare and hassles of a suicide blade.

"Problem solved..."

I received this razor as a gift. Except for brief forays into electrics and multi-blade disposables, I have been a wet shaver for fifty years. This is a typically excellent quality Merkur product. I shave while in the shower, sans mirror, and rarely nick myself. This razor's handle is so smooth that it has slipped out of my hand numerous times. My only gripe is that it should have a cut-finish handle as an option. To solve the problem, I dipped the handle in liquid plastic. Problem solved.

Been shaving with d/e safety razors since 1956 with a brief deviation to multi-blade cart razors. Why ? I don't know. Back to DE razor and this Merkur Futur is last razor I'll ever need. Been using it since it first came out. When? Don't remember. GREAT shaving tool.
