Parker 96R Butterfly Safety Razor

Good, but I seem to remember my last safety razor, a Gillette, had an adjustment for the degree of closeness. I miss this feature, My shave left my skin irritated. Maybe it's the blade. I purchased what appeared to be the best Gillette blades you had listed for sale. Is there a better blade I should be using?

I've had it a week and a half, the angle feels a little different from my previous razor, but after some getting used to I've been fine.

I really enjoy this razor. It’s heavy in the hand which I prefer. Nice razor for the money.

A few months ago, I purchased the 96R and the 90R because I could not decide which one to go with and decided to try both. I am finding that I am preferring the 90R over the 96R more from a balance perspective than anything else. The 96R seems, in my hand, to have most of the weight in the head and a very light handle. The 90R by contrast feels like the weight is more evenly balanced because it clearly has an all metal handle, the 96R appears to have a lighter handle. I also purchased several packages by different manufacturers of blades and trying out a few, I am finding I prefer the Treet and the Shark brands so far. The Gillette 7 o'clock brand seemed to give a more rough shave. Keep in mind that I have used only one blade from each package so far and I am allowing for the possibility that the Gillette blade may have simply been a fluke. More later as I have more experience.
