Occam's Razor Handling And Shaving Tips

Occam's Razor - Simplify Your Shaving - (as seen & funded on kickstarter)

What is new with the O.R.E.N. Razor? For starters these razors are hand machined and assembled in the USA. We have reduced the razors guard by over 50% from the original Occam's Razor! This allows for easier maneuverability in the tougher to reach areas like under your nose. Additionally we have machined out the inside of the handle allowing for enhanced handling of the razor with less chance of slips.

Let Occam's Razor simplify and improve the way you shave. A beautiful design with unmatched functionality.

Occam's Razor was designed to simplify your life and your shaving. We have taken the finest blades that barbers and beauticians use and brought them home to you. Now you can enjoy a barber or salon quality shave at home.

More blades is not the answer to a better, closer shave. Anyone who has had a shave by a professional barber knows this. There is a reason the professionals only use one blade.

Occam's Razor features:

  • Easy blade loading and extraction without exposure to blade cutting edge.
  • Use your fingers or a tool to easily insert or remove blade.
  • Made from 316 Stainless Steel for lifelong use.
  • Adjustable blades for skin types and facial hair types.
  • Easy cleaning and anti-clog design.
  • No more skin irritation, razor burn or razor bumps.
  • Stainless Steel Lifetime Construction.
  • Lifetime Warranty.

  • Multi-Blade cartridge razors create ingrown hairs and razor bumps.
  • High Costs for replacement cartridges.
  • Lowest quality of shave with some of the highest pricing per blade.
  • Low integrity gimmicks like vibrating heads and useless ball "technology".
  • Expensive upfront and expensive to maintain heads properly.
  • Loads of irritation (requiring a month or more for you skin to get "accustomed" to the abuse).
  • Typically a dry or near dry shave.
  • Hair is cut unevenly creating ingrown hairs and razor bumps.
  • Limited options and adjustments.
  • Same issues as the Cartridge Razors above just typically harder to return, cancel or get what you want.
  • Intimidating un-packaging of razor and no protective dispensing system. Exposure to 2 blade edges when changing blade.
  • Easily clogs, hard to wash out and harder to keep clean without serious maintenance. Lot's of moving parts to gum-up or fail.
  • Have to twist to open and close or un-assemble razor to change blade.
  • Have to purchase another container to store sharp used blades.

Two billion disposable razor blades per year are used and thrown away… Additionally, shaving gel creates several other problems. Their metal cans are often refused by recycling plants as they are under pressure. These cans also may contain polluting chemicals and gasses such as aerosol, propane, butane, isobutane and many others.

It is our goal to change the way you shave. You and your household can make a difference in landfill shaving waste, save money, get a better shave and make a real difference. How you ask? What is the answer?

Best razor in my collection.

I saw this razor pictured in a Shave Of The Day on a forum, the design got me and I soon ordered one. Living in the U.K. and paying a high amount in tax and handling fees made it a fairly expensive purchase. BUT, it was worth every penny ! On plate 2 with a Feather Pro Blade I must admit at first I thought it was a bit aggressive, changing to a Feather Guard Blade was a revelation. This evening I have just had a BBS with two passes. I’ve two plates still left to explore ! I’ve plenty of razors vintage, new, single edge and double, this beats them all hands down. I also purchased some Classic Shaving Soaps, they are excellent too. One very happy shaver here.

Great razor

This is a very nice razor with an alternative/unusual design. Blade loading/unloading and retention are easily get used to. I find there is a bit of drag in the WTG and XTG passes. The handle takes a bit more to get used to but on the flipside the razor weight balance is excellent. The mild/med./aggressive plates work well. The razor performs exceptionally well in the ATG pass. Audible feedback is little to none. The razor is very effective but due to the fact that audible feedback is little and also due to the unusual head design on the sides, sometimes (e.g. sideburns/runways) in rare occurrences you can get fooled if it does do the job right or not. Personally I have owned nearly every single SE (Feather AC type) razor out there over the years and the O.R.E.N. together with the Paradigm SE Ti and two Feather straights are what I have kept to carry on with.

BBS shaves!

I own several single edge razors and this one is fast becoming my favorite. I use the "3 dot" (most aggressive guard) with either Feather or Kai blades and get a fantastic BBS shave. The razor has the right weight and balance. Well engineered!

  • Do you prefer a Safety Razor or Straight Razor? I started out wet shaving with a DE safety and have used straights but now a SE is my favorite.
  • Do you prefer a Shave Soap or Cream? Soaps all the way! My Simpson "Wee Scot" is all I need.

Fantastic Shaves

This is by far the best safety razor I've used. It gives a BBS every time in 2 passes with a few touch ups using a Feather Professional blade, and I've yet to cut myself. I've used some expensive DE razors and this outperforms them by a mile. I can get nearly as close with a Feather SS but at much greater risk!

  • Do you prefer a Shave Soap or Cream? Currently using TOBS Grapefruit cream which is fantastic.

Fantastic!

This is the best shave I've ever had. I've been using it for about a month and the shaves are consistently smooth, close, and irritation-free. No other razor (and I have 2 drawers full of them) provides such a nice shave. Pros: * It's so easy to clean while shaving * It has great sonic feedback while shaving. * I'm not a (razor) engineer, but something about the blade angle makes the shave close, without irritation or tugging. The razor always sits perfectly on the face, so you don't have to constantly be mindful of blade angle as you do with DE. * The razor is beautifully balanced and easy to hold. * I find it easier than any other razor to get the the little nooks under my massive schnoz. * It's cool looking, very well made, and has a cool name. * I have yet to have a single weeper or nick in over a month. Cons: * You are limited to one brand (and three types) of blade. Fortunately, they work great for me. * The blades are significantly more expensive than DE blades. * What will I do with all my DE equipment? I've interspersed shaves with my Parker Variant and Gillette SuperSpeed and Feather blades, and the shaves just aren't as good. Summary: I was very skeptical about SE shaving, but I went ahead and bought an Occam and I'm so glad I did! Great service from Classic, too.
