Nice Soap

I was a bit skeptical about this shave soap, but decided to give it a try. I'm partial to leather/smoke scented soaps. When the container was opened, it smelled like a leather shop. Easy to lather and a good lather that doesn't breakdown, and it is quite slick, providing a nice smooth shave.

  • How long have you been Wet Shaving? Born in the early '50s when "Wet Shaving" was simply "Shaving". I reverted back to WS about 8 yrs ago.
  • Do you prefer a Safety Razor or Straight Razor? Safety. On occaison I'll use a vintage Rolls Razor and that's as close to a straight as I want.
  • Do you prefer a Shave Soap or Cream? I use both
  • Have You Ever Tried a Pre-Shave Oil or Lotion? I've used a variety of pre-shave items, including poorly performaning soaps that I can't simply throw out.

Russian is not English

A fine shaving soap, good lather. . . . I searched the net for English Learher (Dana) and found it was originally called Russian Leather ...named changed early in the Cold War. I had hoped this soap had a similar scent - sadly not. I will continue to use this product as I search for English Leather.
