The Blade: With its smooth, satin finish, this 6/8" blade has a quarter hollow grind, a round point and jimps on the underside of the tang.

Choose your Custom Scale: Whether you choose the refined sophistication of a quality resin scale or the Old World allure of a premium hardwood scale, the choice is all yours. Replacement scales are also sold separately and can easily be swapped out.

Each Hart razor comes with its own storage box, a hex wrench, and an instructional manual.  For everyday use, apply Classic Brand razor oil; for long term storage we recommend Sentry Solutions Tuf-Glide w/Precision Applicator.

What is different about Hart Steel razors? In the spirit of American cottage industry our razors are created by Artisan Technicians (AT). One AT from start to finish has hand-ground, marked, sharpened and assembled each razor. You'll find the AT's personalized mark proudly stamped on each razor to indicate his craftsmanship and the maker’s assurance of quality. All Hart Razors are Handmade In The USA. These blades are built upon ordering. Please allow 3-10 business days for shipping.

Our steel is tested at a Rockwell hardness of 62 – 63, giving your razor the sharpest and most long-lasting edge possible. The one-piece scales have a simple elegance and are extremely durable while providing an excellent balance to the razor's edge. The scales are attached by a hex screw so the user can easily tighten or loosen to his preference as well as re-scale the razor. The addition of hand carved file jimps on the inside edge of the blade's tang provide extra grip and control while shaving.

The Hart Steel blades are made from 0-1 tool steel, never old forgings or “mystery metal”. The blades are surface-ground before and after heat-treating in a molten salt bath. The salt protects the blades from decarbonization and oxidation. The blades are then frozen in liquid nitrogen, which assures dimensional stability. Each blade is triple-tempered for a final hardness of 62 – 63 HRC.

My best experience with a new razor.

I own 9 other razors of various name brands, some hollow ground some near wedges, some very expansive. This however is the sharpest most comfortable straight razor I now own. I don’t know if it’s the grind, the type of steel or tho process used in making the blade or all of the above but this exceeds the best I own. One last thought, while I really like the weight of the razor and the way the scales are made I especially appreciate the absence of the traditional pin at the pivot point. A machine screw and nut (in my opinion) is the way to go as far as maintaining and adjusting the tightness of the blade with ease.

      Very Good Overall

I shaved with my new Hart Steel 6/8 Barber Notch razor for the first time last night. AMAZING!!! The blade glided across my stubbly face effortlessly. I had to check to be sure it was shaving. It Was! The honing was perhaps the best I’ve ever experienced. So I’m extremely satisfied with that. I can’t say I think the maple scales are worth the upcharge - I wouldn’t purchase them again. There was a slight hiccup on shipping when I was sent a round point, but I was provided a return label and the situation was promptly rectified.

      Flawless

I’m new to straight razor shaving, since some 2 months in which I tried a Thiers Isaard 5/8 Le Gelot 1/2 hollow , and a japanese 6/8 silver steel 3/4 hollow besides this one. Today I had my second shave with this Hart razor and with a Mitchell’s Woolfat soap I had the best shave of my life!!! No honing needed just factory edge and horsehide strop. All the best, Emanuel

Very nice but grind could be more even

Overall, it shaves quite well. Not sure how shave ready it was, as I touch up the edge always myself (Naniwa 12k + Chromium Oxide). The workmanship is by and large pretty good, and this thing is solid - a serious chunk of steel. The grind could be a bit more even, but it isn't life threatening.
