Occam's Razor Handling And Shaving Tips

Occam's Razor - Simplify Your Shaving - (as seen & funded on kickstarter)

PRE-SALE STARTS 2/20/2021 - Razors will start shipping in 10 Business Days!

What is new with the O.R.E.N. Razor? For starters these razors are hand machined and assembled in the USA. We have reduced the razors guard by over 50% from the original Occam's Razor! This allows for easier maneuverability in the tougher to reach areas like under your nose. Additionally we have machined out the inside of the handle allowing for enhanced handling of the razor with less chance of slips.

Let Occam's Razor simplify and improve the way you shave. A beautiful design with unmatched functionality.

Occam's Razor was designed to simplify your life and your shaving. We have taken the finest blades that barbers and beauticians use and brought them home to you. Now you can enjoy a barber or salon quality shave at home.

More blades is not the answer to a better, closer shave. Anyone who has had a shave by a professional barber knows this. There is a reason the professionals only use one blade.

Occam's Razor features:

  • Easy blade loading and extraction without exposure to blade cutting edge.
  • Use your fingers or a tool to easily insert or remove blade.
  • Made from 316 Stainless Steel for lifelong use.
  • Adjustable blades for skin types and facial hair types.
  • Easy cleaning and anti-clog design.
  • No more skin irritation, razor burn or razor bumps.
  • Stainless Steel Lifetime Construction.
  • Lifetime Warranty.

  • Multi-Blade cartridge razors create ingrown hairs and razor bumps.
  • High Costs for replacement cartridges.
  • Lowest quality of shave with some of the highest pricing per blade.
  • Low integrity gimmicks like vibrating heads and useless ball "technology".
  • Expensive upfront and expensive to maintain heads properly.
  • Loads of irritation (requiring a month or more for you skin to get "accustomed" to the abuse).
  • Typically a dry or near dry shave.
  • Hair is cut unevenly creating ingrown hairs and razor bumps.
  • Limited options and adjustments.
  • Same issues as the Cartridge Razors above just typically harder to return, cancel or get what you want.
  • Intimidating un-packaging of razor and no protective dispensing system. Exposure to 2 blade edges when changing blade.
  • Easily clogs, hard to wash out and harder to keep clean without serious maintenance. Lot's of moving parts to gum-up or fail.
  • Have to twist to open and close or un-assemble razor to change blade.
  • Have to purchase another container to store sharp used blades.

Two billion disposable razor blades per year are used and thrown away… Additionally, shaving gel creates several other problems. Their metal cans are often refused by recycling plants as they are under pressure. These cans also may contain polluting chemicals and gasses such as aerosol, propane, butane, isobutane and many others.

It is our goal to change the way you shave. You and your household can make a difference in landfill shaving waste, save money, get a better shave and make a real difference. How you ask? What is the answer?

O.R.E.N. Razor - Occam's Razor

The best razor I've ever shaved with, I'm shocked how she shaves.

Once I realized what I had ACTUALLY bought...

So far, so good - the only hiccup for me was, frankly, a user error - I had gotten myself convinced that this was an injector razor, like a Supply, and that's what I had been seeking. When this arrived, and I saw that it was a manually loaded razor, I was initially disappointed. That said, I put that disappointment aside - again, user error - and tried it. I've shaved probably 7 or 8 times on the OREN, all with the first blade I installed. I've not nicked myself - not even once - using the two dot plate. Irritation is negligible - I only notice it if I shave too hard, usually against the grain - which is ultimately also a user error. I also feel like I'll get another shave or two out of the first blade, so I'm feeling pretty good about the purchase! My *only* suggestion? Include a second blade replacement tool - that little widget is gonna get lost at some point.

  • Do you prefer a Shave Soap or Cream? Historically a soap, but these days I like the convenience of a cream.
  • Have You Ever Tried a Pre-Shave Oil or Lotion? Yes. For me, it only makes a small difference if technique and cream are good.

Amazing OREN!

Best razor I have ever used. Truly. Just get one. I have a thick beard and use the "3 dot top plate" with a Feather Artist Club Pro Guard blade and it is a great shave - every single time.

O.R.E.N Razor

Upon working out that the front didn't actually have to be unscrewed off to install the blade, I was left with an uncertainty, of the structural integrity for the blades retention. The edge felt flimsy, similar to an al dente piece of fettuccine while trying to catch it on a fork for testing from the pot. Further questions arose when I found the blade was very easily dislodged. It was at this stage I worked out that the non-descript tool supplied in the box was for changing the blades. The assumption that the design, was very likely conjured to work and support the edge perfectly fine, helped me on my way to the bathroom. By the way, I really like the style of this razor, purposeful weight, unique, but not challenging grip, an element of industriousness, but clearly finished to fit with the trendies. Soaped up and poised, took a swipe up the side of my neck, nothing. Had a quick check in the mirror, yup the lather has gone, must have just had the angle of attack all wrong. I giraffed forward to get a closer inspection, huh, the hair has been removed, no sign of drag in the stroke at all. I don't have a particularly full or thick beard at all, but maybe I just only paying enough attention given on a hurried rush of shave. Alright, move to the next side, with a bit more concentration, I'll have this sorted. Nothing. Angle was all wrong, I managed to smear some of the lather around, with have of the cutting bar, but little more. I think its the physical appearance of the razor its self, miss leading me to over think the dynamic of the situation. Whereas a DE is very clear where the edge is going to be, given the gentle curve of the head, the short steep chin of this this gives no clues. So knowing that a little more practice is going to be required, I taxi around my surfaces apply all manner of angles and pressure, all the while amazed that the blade, while splendidly flexible and contouring, showed no sign of moving or dislodging. Super supple, yet rock solid. I struggled with my upper lip, digging down with the approach under my nose seemed to take more dexterity and squinting than what I suspect is acceptable, but it's hardly a moot point. Being able to use these super fine beautician edges, in this manner is certainly a fun idea, and believe me... super smooth, and I don't recall any irritation, but at the same rate, it will spend more time as a piece of interest, than part of a regular grooming practice. What has crossed my mind however, that women just might well love it on their legs. Wide cutting span, the thin flexible blade delicately forming to less sharp curves, cheap blade replacement, crazy smooth finish, wide gaps makes it very easy to clean out, just don't get the black finish, in a bath or shower, it will stay constantly scummy looking.

  • Do you prefer a Safety Razor or Straight Razor? Safety, but straight is fun.
  • Do you prefer a Shave Soap or Cream? Soap. But the everyday stuff I use is a kind of mix of the two.
  • Have You Ever Tried a Pre-Shave Oil or Lotion? I have not. I've not even looked into seeing what they are all about.
