Basic in appearance yet this is a high quality product made of the best quality German Steel. I highly recommend this product for a first razor. I’ve had mine for 5 years and am currently having a custom razor made by a blacksmith, but I plan to keep this one and alternate. If this is your first striaght razor I must warn you it is VERY important to keep the blade sharp by stropping before and after every shave. I do 20 stroke on each side of the blad on the cotton amd then 20 strokes on each side on the leather. Follow this and you’ll possibly never have to sharpen your blade. If you ever do need to sharpen your blade it’s worth learning to do it yourself with a Norton 4000/8000 grit whetstone. Enjoy your razor for your lifetime or pass it down to your kid or grandkid because these are built to last.
